Beverly Harris, 78, of Fairfield, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Jefferson County Health Center.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Beverly Ann Harris

Beverly Ann Harris, 78, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with Stephen Burns officiating. Following the service, the body will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be held at the later date at Garrett Cemetery north of Delta.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to 1705A Linden Drive, Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. Harris was born Nov. 17, 1935, in Rose Hill, the daughter of Jack A. and Genevieve Garrett Rockwell. She married James Lee Harris Feb. 11, 1956, in What Cheer.

The Harrises lived in the Fairfield area from 1963-1980 and then returned to Fairfield in December 2013. Mrs. Harris opened Allen Travel Agency in 1966 and was involved in the family business until it closed.

Mrs. Harris's hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing, traveling. She continued her crafting hobbies until her last days, providing friends and family many treasured memories.

Mrs. Harris was involved in the Fairfield community by belonging to various organizations. She and her husband loved attending the activities of their children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: her husband; three children, Jeffrey L. Harris and wife Mary of Marshalltown, Kirk Harris of Fairfield, LeAnne Harris of Fairfield; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister, Linda.

Beverly Ann Harris, age 78, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Jefferson County health Center in Fairfield, Iowa.

Visitation for family and friends is 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. today, April 23, 2014, at Behner Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Behner Funeral Home with Stephen Burns officiating. Following the service the body will be cremated. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date at Garrett Cemetery north of Delta.

Bev was born November 17, 1935, to Jack A. and Genevieve (Garrett) Rockwell in Rose Hill, Iowa. On February 11, 1956, she married James Lee Harris in What Cheer, Iowa.

Bev and Jim lived in the Fairfield area from 1963 - 19080, returning to Fairfield in December 2013. Bev opened Allen Travel Agency in 1966 and was involved in the family business until it closed. Bev's hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing, traveling, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She continued her crafting hobbies until her last days, providing friends and family many treasured memories.

Bev was very involved in the Fairfield community belonging to various community organizations. She and Jim loved attending the activities of her kids and grandkids.

Bev is survived by her husband, James; three children, Jeffrey L. (Mary) Harris of Marshalltown, Iowa, Kirk Harris of Fairfield and LeAnne Harris of Fairfield; five grandchildren, JoAnne Harris, Benjamin (Chelby) Harris, Jilianne Harris, Jackson Harris and Cody Moran; and one great-grandchild, Jacey Harris.
