Delores Ingle McCracken

Delores Ingle McCracken, 85, of Ollie, died at her home surrounded by her family Monday afternoon, Oct. 13, 2014.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Ollie Baptist Church in Ollie, with the Reverends Carla Nelson, Bob Spilger and Gary Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Ollie Cemetery.

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Thursday, with family present 5-7 p.m., at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Memorials for Hospice Compassus of Cedar Rapids, Hospice of Keokuk County or Ollie Baptist Church can be left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at 2953 45th St., Rock Island, IL 61201.

Mrs. McCracken was born Aug. 1, 1929, in Fairfield, the daughter of Herbert George and Edith Olson Babcock. She marred(err?) Chester Melvin Ingle Oct. 31, 1948. He died Oct. 1, 1993. She married Roy McCracken May 16, 2004, and he died May 6, 2012.

Mrs. McCracken graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947.

She traveled with her husband Melvin while he was a Navy Seabee, living in Guam, Saipan, Tinian and other places. They returned to Ollie where he worked construction and she was a cook and custodian at the Ollie school. She also cooked at Pekin High School and the Keco Sale Barn in Sigourney and worked at the Clothes Closet.

She was an active member of Ollie Baptist Church, helped with Ollie Big Days and was a member of the Ollie Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include: two daughters, Dee Allman and husband Bill of Ollie and Melody Miller of Rock Island, Illinois; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Paul and George Babcock.
