George Edward Mulcahy

George Edward Mulcahy, 78, of Fairfield, died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 16, 2014, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A graveside funeral service is planned at 4:30 Wednesday at Richland Friends Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Benge officiating.

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is assisting the family.

Mr. Mulcahy was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Poughkeepsie, New York, the son of Francis and Viola Wood Mulcahy. He married Charletta LaVerne Newell Randolph. She died in 1983.

Mr. Mulcahy grew up in New York and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School.

He served in the United States Army and worked construction as a dry wall hanger.

Survivors include: one son, Raymond Randolph of Jourdanton, Texas; one daughter, Tracy Taylor of Palm Springs, California; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Huey Mulcahy of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Jim Mulcahy of Las Vegas; and one sister, Viola of Poughkeepsie.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; two children, Bill Randolph and Melvin Randolph Jr.; and four brothers and sisters.
