Bernard ·W. Jones, 85, of 430 N. Iowa Ave., died at 4:35 a.m. June 25, 1996, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born March 10, 1911, in Ottumwa, to Clarence and Mary Menan Jones. He married Mary B. Johnson on April 16, 1939.

A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he was an employee of John Morrell & Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1973.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bernard Jr. and Roger; a daughter, Lynne Van Noy; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Magdalene Canny.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Lunkley and a brother, Donald L. Jones.

The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Errett Boyer officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
