OTTUMWA — Blanche Irene Morford, 89, died March 9, 2007 at Hospice House.

She was born March 18, 1917 in Mystic to James W. and Elfa Mae Dickey Hartley. She married Lorraine “Larry” Morford on Feb. 25, 1935 in Fairfield.

Surviving Blanche are her sons, Charles, of Harcord, Iowa, Jim, of Ottumwa, and John, of Ottumwa; a daughter, Donna May Gray of Belton, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Hartley of Ottumwa; two sisters, Betty Harland of Eddyville and Margaret Buckholtz of Idaho.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Clyde, James, George and Garrison, and four sisters, Marjorie, Garnet, Zella and Delores.

She had worked for John Morrell Co. for many years and as a nurse’s aide at Sunnyslope Care Center.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home with Rev. Sue Babovec officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Shrine of Memories Funeral Home with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Morford, Ronald Morford, Larry Morford, Robert Gray, Richard Gray and Robbie Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Mosley, Matthew Gray, Justin Gallegos, Blake Buseman, Roger Morford and Charles Morford.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Davis and Wapello Counties.

Shrine of Memories is in charge of arrangements.
