ELSIE COLTRAIN

Elslie M. Coltrain, 73, of 531 S, Adella died Tuesday at 8 p.m. at University of Iowa Hospitals.

She was born in Ash Grove Aug. 11, 1902 to Silas and Laura Tharp Matherly.

She had lived in Ottumwa since 1945 and was a member of the Church of Christ. She married to Ray Coltrain July 17, 1917, in Moravia. He died in 1936.

Survivors include five sons, Jack of Des Moines, Delmar of Arkansas City, Kan., Curtis and Jerry of Ottumwa, Floyd of Leaf River, Ill.; five daughters, Ila Ray of Bloomfield, Dorothy Emanuel of Kernville, Calif., Margaret Miller of Glendora, Calif., Doris Johnson and Roberta McCarty, both of Ottumwa; two brothers, Forest Matherly of Shenandoah and Fred Matherly of Bell, Calif.; two sisters, Cora Stocker of Moravia, Gladys Huff of Potage, Ind.; 26 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The service will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Jay Funeral Home, Dayton Nelson of the Church of Christ officiating.

Burial will be in the Moravia Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Bob Stevens, Orville Lorence, Charles, Robert and Fred Carlo and Paul Saylor.
