Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” September 28, 1943:

Charles Nute, 83, died at 6:50 a.m. today at his home, 437 South Willard street.

He was born in Plymouth, England, March 17, 1860, and came to this country when 21 years old. He had lived Ottumwa for the past 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Mrs. Etta Copeland, Hedrick route 2; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Isabel, and three daughters.

Funeral services will be at the residence, 437 South Willard street, at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Thurman Bowen of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery. The family requests no flowers.

The casket will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the home at 4 p.m. today.
