Neil Campbell

Neil Campbell, 87, of 307 29th St. in Fairfield, and formerly of Ottumwa, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at the Comfort House in Pella.

He was born in 1926 in Mt. Lake, Minnesota to Lloyd and Alice Heaton Campbell. He married Betty Hepker on October 18, 1952. She preceded him in death on May 13, 1992. He married Evelyn Hummell on March 1, 1994.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in the Korean War.

Neil farmed for over 50 years in the Ottumwa area.

He was a member of the North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn; three daughters, Dianne Toycen of Jacksonville, FL, Linda Versteegh of McKinney, TX and Nancy (Ken) Kirkland of Garland, TX; a step-daughter, Aleta Harris of Ottumwa; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and a brother, Reid Campbell of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon and Lynn Campbell.

Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa with Rev. Roger Hemmings officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 American Legion.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. The family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
