Rites For Mrs. Lyon

Mrs. Matilda Lyon, 76, 105 W. Jefferson, died Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been seriously ill for six days.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Free Methodist Church with the Rev. George W. Koch and Dr. Merne Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery. The Weston Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established to the Heart Fund and the Gideon Society.

Mrs. Lyon was born on June 19, 1899 in Mansfield, Mo., the daughter of James and Rachel Deckard Essary.

She was first married to Herbert Lawson in 1915. He died in 1917. Her second marriage was to James A. Wilson in 1918. He died in 1951.

On Jan. 23, 1955 she was married to Floyd E. Lyon, who survives. Mrs. Lyon had lived in the Fairfield, Richland and Eldon communities. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Bill Wilson of Iowa City and three daughters, Irma Crow of Richland, Mo., Pearle Salter of Clinton and Shirley Smith of Birmingham. She is also survived by four brothers, Harve Essary of McClurg, Mo., Ran and Harley Essary of Eldon and Richard Essary of Bettendorf. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three great-stepgrandchildren; four stepchildren and six step grandchildren. Four brothers are deceased.
