Rites For Roy Black

BATAVIA - Roy A. Black, 86, died at Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Born October 7, 1888 in Jefferson County, he was the son of Archibald and Mary E. Snook Black. He lived in Batavia, then in Branson, Mo., until he moved back to Iowa in 1970.

He was married to Anna Smith September 9, 1928; she preceded him in death in 1968. He had bee a telephone repairman most of his life and was a Navy veteran of WWI. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Mabel Heston of agency, and one brother, Weldy Black, of Fairfield. He was preceded by one brother and one sister.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon, with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.
