Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 2, 1988:

Icye I. Jackson, 79, formerly of 553 S. Webster, died at 10:30 a.m. March 1, 1988, at Ridgewood Care Center.

She was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Bonaparte to Bert T. and Inis Hunter Jay. A graduate of Ottumwa High School, she was employed by S.S. Kresege [sic] Co. for 28 years. She married Russell A. Jackson April 15, 1934, in Centerville. He died March 30, 1981.

She is survived by a sister, Veronica Freshour of Ottumwa; a brother, O. Hunter Jay of Donna, Texas; and a half-brother, Walter Jay of Ottumwa.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Wayne Gjerde of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.
