MILLER SERVICES

Services for Pvt. Terry Vernon Miller 23 of 1526 Locust are planned for Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Luthern Church. The PVT was killed May 23, in Vietnam during a enemy attack on the outpost where he was serving with CO B Fourth Batalian of the 21st Infantry 11th American Division.Burial will be at Ottumwa Cemetery.

The body will arrive in Des Moines tonight accompanied by his brother; Gregg who is serving with the Navy in the Phillipines. It will be brought to the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa.

A memorial fund has bees established by the family called: "The Terry Miller Fund and for the YMCA" payable to the First National Bank of Ottumwa. Another fund has been established to Trinity Luthern Church here.

Flags will be flown at half mast in Ottumwa; Monday in his honor. The Ottumwa City Council earlier resolved the American flag should be flown at half mast here for local servicemen killed while serving their country.

The son of Vernon L. and Betty Lapham Miller of 209 N. Fellows. He was born March 1, 1945 in Ottumwa. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1964; he attended Northeast Missouri State college for four years and was on the honor roll in the art department. He needed one quarter of practice teaching to receive his B.S. Degree in Art and Education when he was drafted on July 7, 1968. He went to Vietnam in March of this year.

A former member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was a member of Trinity Luthern Church. He was active in YMCA for many years. He has been in Summer training employee of John Deere Company.

His marriage to Miss Cheatman took place on September 2, 1967 in Ottumwa; she survives; also surviving are one son Christian Miller born Feb 2, 1969; his parents; two brothers; Roger at home and Gregg; a sister Sherry Miller at home; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Lester Crable and Mrs Faye Miller of Ottumwa.
