Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Tuesday, July 20, 1915:

Mrs. Mary Merel Scott.

Mrs. Mary Merel Scott, passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital Monday afternoon at the age of 28 years. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Olive Barker, of Ottumwa.

Funeral services were held early this morning from the Sacred Heart Catholic church conducted by the Rev. James Foley. The remains were taken at 8 o’clock to Farmington. Interment was made this afternoon at 2 o’clock in Black Ledge cemetery at Mt. Sterling.

(Note: Blackledge Cemetery is the correct spelling.)
