SILAS B. JONES

ELDON ~~ Silas B. Jones, 90, died at Woller nursing home in Eldon at 5:30 a.m today. He had been ill a year.

He was born in Davis county, February 9, 1865, the son of William and Emily Nupp Jones. He farmed east of Eldon and spent all of his life in Davis county.

He was married to Annie Catherine Lasley December 28, 1887. She died in 1942.

He is survived by two sons, Nathal of Floris and Charles of Ottumwa; two daughters, Mrs. Bessie Fisk of Dayton, Wash., and Mrs. Nellie Ritz of Selma; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

He also leaves a brother Charles Augustus Jones of Eldon, and four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Padgett of Eldon, Mrs. Ella Garrett, Mrs. Josie Puffinbarger and Mrs. Imogene Irona of Ottumwa. A son Harry, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem church with the Rev. Marion Prather of the Eldon Christian church in charge. The body is at the Campbell and Sons funeral home in Eldon.
