USEFUL LIFE COMES TO CLOSE
MRS. MARTHA ARNOLD PASSES AWAY THIS MORNING AT HER HOME ON NORTH HOLT
After a long and useful life, Mrs. Martha Delight Arnold, one of the oldest residents of Ottumwa, passed away at 1:55 o'clock this morning at her home, 205 North Holt street. At her bedside were her three sons, Henry B., Frank and Ned Arnold and daughter Miss Blanche Arnold all of Ottumwa. Three other children, Richard Arnold of Bering, Pike county, Illinois, William Arnold of Springfield, Ill., and Mrs. Eva Haxby of Denver, Colo., were not present but were notified of their mother's death this morning. The deceased was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, April, 2, 1823, and was 87 years of age at the time of her demise. Her death was caused by an attack of la grippe, coupled with a stroke of apoplexy. She was converted to the Methodist Episcopal Church in early childhood and had always been a faithful follower of the church. During her last hours, she was cheerful and unafraid of death, being eager tomeet her Savior. Her husband passed away in 1862. With her large family of children the decedent came to Iowa in 1883, settling in Wapello County. She later removed to Jacksonville, Ill., where she resided for fifteen years. She came back to the Hawkeye state over a year ago. Funeral announcement will be made later.
FUNERALS.
Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. Martha Delight Arnold, who passed away yesterday morning will be held from the family residence, 205 North Holt Street, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Dr. T. W. Jeffrey, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church will conduct the services. Interment will be made In the Ottumwa cemetery.
