MRS.F.M.MANGAN
CALLED BY DEATH
ILLNESS OF THREE WEEKS TERMINATES IN DEMISE OF A BELOVED WOMAN.
Mrs. Kate Mangan, wife of Frank M. Mangan, died this afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at the family residence, 307 West Second street. Mrs. Mangan has been bedfast for the past three weeks with an acute attack of heart disease. Surrounding her bed side when death came were her surviving family, Mr. Mangan and four daughters, and her only brother, J. J. Smith, and family. Death was not unexpected, although all that medical skill could do was done.
The arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made. The decedent was born in Iowa City, June 2, 1856, and removed to Ottumwa in 1886, a short time after her brother, J. J. Smith, located here. She was married to Mr. Mangan in this city. To this union five children were born, four daughters and one son. The son preceded his mother in death. The daughters are: Marie, Sadie, Rosa and Genevieve, the eldest being 19 years old. Mrs. Mangan had been a member of St. Mary's church since first coming to Ottumwa and she had been a devote adherent to the Catholic faith. To her husband, she was ever a loving and thoughtful wife, and to her four bright children she had been a most devoted mother. The news of Mrs., Mangan's death will be received by the numerous friends of the family with keen regret.
