AGED RESIDENT IS SUMMONED
MRS. MARY MARGARET BARNES, WELL KNOWN OTTUMWAN, PASSED AWAY LAST NIGHT.
A pioneer resident of Wapello County was called to her heavenly home last night when the angel of death entered the home of J. S. Barnes 530 Center Avenue, and summoned his lovable wife, Mary Margaret Barnes. The deceased was 70 years of age at the time of her demise. She was born in Cadiz, Ohio, in August 1840 and came to Wapello County in 1857, having resided here continuously for fifty-four years. Her death occurred at 7:30 o'clock. The deceased was a devoted Christian, having been a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church for thirty-five years. Besides her husband, she leaves five children, Fred L. Barnes of Chicago, T. S. Barnes of El Reno, Okla., B. M. Barnes of Chicago, Mrs. F. A. Graves of Harvey and H. W. Barnes of Ottumwa to mourn her death. Four sisters also survive her. They are Mrs. M. A. Thompson of Pendleton, Oregon, Mrs. B. A. Ogden of Chicago, Mrs. L. L. Barnes of Ottumwa and Mrs. N. J. Stewart of South Bend. Wash. Funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. T. W. Jeffrey of the First Methodist Episcopal church will conduct the services. Interment will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.
The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Barnes, a pioneer resident of Ottumwa who died Thursday night, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, 530 Center Avenue. Dr. „T. W. Jeffrey of the First Methodist Episcopal church, conducted the funeral services. Many friends attended the services. Interment was made in the Ottumwa cemetery. The pallbearers were D. H. Emery, J. H. Rheem, S. L. Vest, J. R. Blundell, H. F. N. Jacob and M. B. Hoxsey.
