William Caldwell departed this life December 6, 1910 at his home one mile north of Batavia, Iowa. He was born May 5, 1850 in Jefferson county, Iowa, and was married October 29, 1871 to Mehatable Avery. One daughter was
born to this union. Miss Ocle Caldwell, he leaves to mourn his loss, a wife and daughter and one grandson, also five brothers and three sisters: S. M. Ogden, Batavia: David Caldwell, Abingdon: Alfred Caldwell, Ottumwa
Sarah Gamble, Hedrick: Elbert Caldwell, Galesburg Ill. Laura Gobble, Nevina, Okla. George Caldwell, Hedrick: Lee Caldwell. Eldon. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Christian church and was baptized when he was about sixteen years old. He was also a member of the Woodman lodge. A large crowd was in attendance at the funeral, held at the Christian church at Batavia. Services were conducted by Rev. John A. Brown of Batavia. Interment was in the Batavia cemetery.
