Ottumwa Courier May 11, 1936

Vance Carlson, 34, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Carlson, died at his home, 506 N. Ash St., Sunday at 1 PM. He was born in Ottumwa, November 17, 1901, had lived here all his life with the exception of the last 10 years. During that time he had been employed by the Aurora Beacon News, Aurora Illinois. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church here and of the printers union in Aurora. Surviving is his mother. His father, Gust Carlson, died in 1905. Private funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Johnson's funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Melvin H. Lundeen. Burial be made in the Ottumwa cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ralph Weldon, Enoch Johnson, Adolph Johnson, Russell Johnson, John Kaiser and Frances Kaiser. The family request no flowers be sent.
