W. H. Cottrell, 92, Dies in Ottumwa
Well-Known Resident Had Lived In Wapello County For 86 Years
Resident of Wapello County for the last 86 years, William H. Cottrell, died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Everett Dodds, 1205 E. 4th St., Wednesday at 9:15 PM. He came to Wapello County when he was six years of age, living here since. He was the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Cottrell and was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, April 11, 1844. For the last 27 years he had lived in Ottumwa. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Townsend of Ottumwa; one son, Tom Cottrell of Woodburn; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha; two sons, and four daughters. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 PM at Johnson's funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. R. W. Swick. Burial be made in the Chillicothe cemetery. The body will be taken to Dodds residence, 1205 E. 4th St., at 5 PM today and returned to the Chapel at noon Friday.
