RACHEL MYERS RITES HELD SUNDAY

The funeral for Mrs. Rachel (Retta) Myers, 93, was Sunday afternoon at the Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. William Lone of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery at Eldon with Rebekah Lodge services at graveside.

Mildred Turk was organist and Myrle Perry the vocalist.

Pall bearers were Wallace Goodwin, Albert Hancock, Russell Weir, Robert Warren, Glen Duncan Hughes, and Van Canaday.

Mrs. Myers died in Ottumwa Friday at 9:35 a.m. She had fractured her hip a year ago in a fall.

Born April 10, 1870, in Eldon, she was the daughter of Charles D. and Julia Cummins Sharp. She was a lifelong resident of the community. She was a member of the Eldon Methodist Church and 75-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, Eastern Star, Bay View Reading Club, Royal Neighbors of America, and library board member for 50 years.

She married George N. Myers July 15, 1896, in Eldon. He died in 1942.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Moore of Ottumwa, and a niece, Mrs. Dorothea Sharp of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.
