Thomas J. Garretson, 80, died at 1 PM today at his home north of the city. He was born in Davis County, November 20, 1855, the son of William and Christine Garretson. For the last 40 years he has lived in and around Ottumwa. Surviving are two sons, T. J. of Davenport and J. C. Garretson of Ottumwa; one daughter, Mrs. Avis LaBarr of Davenport; one sister, Mrs. Kate Davis, Beaverton, Oregon; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's funeral Chapel at 10:30 AM Monday, conducted by the Rev. A. D. Clerk. Burial be made in the Dunville cemetery, Davis County.
