Ottumwa Courier December 18, 1935

Mrs. Dora F. Murphy, 60, died at her home, 141 S. Elm St., Tuesday at 2:30 PM. She was the daughter of William Q and Louisa M. Davis and was born in Chillicothe, Missouri, September 13, 1875. She lived in Ottumwa for the last 15 years. She was married to George A. DeGrofft at Chillicothe, October 14, 1897. She is also survived by her second husband, John R. Murphy of Hot Springs, Arkansas; one daughter, Miss Mary Velma DeGrofft of Ottumwa; two sons, George Raymond DeGrofft of Ottumwa and William Allen DeGrofft of Honolulu, Hawaii, and two grandchildren, Billy Ray and Beverly Velma DeGrofft both of Ottumwa. Five children, her parents, three sisters, and one brother preceded her in death. Short funeral services will be held at Johnson's funeral Chapel at 2 PM Thursday and at 2:30 at the First Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Eugene C. Beach, assisted by the Rev. Robert W. Swick. Burial be made in the Memorial Lawn cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Judd, Clement Kennedy, Robert Fay, James Quinn, Tom Hoover and Marion LaPointe.
