C. C. Carson Veteran Q. Worker Dies
Carl C. Carson, 56-year-old veteran of the employee of the Burlington railroad, died at his home, 118 N. Union St., at 2 PM today following an illness of about 3 1/2 months. Mr. Carson began working for the Burlington Railroad at Beardstown, Illinois, and after a short time came to Ottumwa, and began work in the local division offices, July 24, 1912. He has been an operator and car distributor since that time. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Carson; one son, Jean Carson of Casper, Wyoming; a brother, James Carson of Carrolltown, Illinois, and two sisters, Miss Rosa Carson of Medora, Illinois, who has been here for the past two months and Mrs. Warren Goff of Cambria, Wisconsin. The body has been removed to the Lester Jay funeral home pending the completion of funeral arrangements. Funeral services for C. C. Carson, C. B. & Q. car distributor at the local Ottumwa division offices, who died at his home, 118 N. Union St. about 2 PM Saturday, will be held from the Lester Jay funeral home Tuesday at 2 PM conducted by the Rev. H. Sears Thomson, D. D., Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Carson was a member of Fidelity Lodge no. 152 of Medora, Illinois. There will be Masonic services at the grave and the Ottumwa cemetery, where burial will be made. The pallbearers will be A. L. Hale, F. B. Leonard, D. C. Pixley, D. L. Stark, O. P. Trautwein, and A. L. Tullis. Honorary pallbearers will be D. A. Emery, E. A. Gustaveson, Henry Hervey, F. M. Hunter, William Oldham and H. L. Sedgwick.
