Old Resident Of Ottumwa Called
Mrs. Kate Peck Dies At Age Of 71; Lived Here All Of Her Lifetime
Mrs. Kate Douglas Peck, 71 years old, wife of Harry E. A. Peck and resident of Ottumwa all of her life, died at the home, 225 N. Weller St., Friday at 9:50 following an illness of 10 weeks. She was born in Ottumwa April 12, 1861, and has lived here her entire lifetime. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Douglas, died during her infancy and she was raised by an uncle, Dr. Thomas J. Douglas. Besides her husband, Mrs. Peck is survived by one son, Hiram T. Peck, of Ottumwa and four daughters, Mrs. A. V. Wise of Dubuque and Mrs. J. H. McFadden, Miss Lela Peck and Miss Julia Peck, all of Ottumwa; one brother, Thomas R. Douglas of Ottumwa and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Lester Jay funeral home Sunday at 2:30 conducted by the Rev. O. B. Preston, pastor of the Plymouth Congregational Church, assisted by the Rev. Eugene Charles Beach, pastor of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The body will be at the residence 225 N. Weller St., from 4 PM to 9 PM today.
