OTTUMWA — Clarence R. Skinner, 83, of 11620 Rabbit Run Road, died at 10:55 p.m. July 15, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born on Sept. 7, 1927, in Ottumwa to Elmer and Martha Amelang Skinner. He married Margaret J. Jacobs on July 4, 1955.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1946, he served in the Korean Conflict. He was a construction worker and retired with the Laborers Local No. 566.
He was an avid fisherman and arrowhead hunter. He found his last arrowhead and caught his last fish on the last day before he died.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Jeff (Mindy) Skinner of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Jacob (Holly) Skinner and Molly Skinner; and a sister, Mary Maxine Collins of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Floyd, Leland, Ben and Hubert Skinner; and a sister, Faye Hunter.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post No. 3 of the American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post No. 775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Cremation will follow services. Inurnment will be in Point Isabelle Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m.
