Larry Dean Lanigan, age 62, passed away on March 31, 2008, at his home at Kansas City Missouri.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at St. Catherine's Church, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Knights of Columbus in care of the funeral home.

Larry was born Nov. 8, 1945, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Growing up in Ottumwa, Larry enjoyed playing football and baseball, winning the Little League State Championship in 1956. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1963 at the age of 17. After high school, he enlisted in the US Army, serving his country until being discharged in 1966. After college he settled in Kansas City, Mo., where he met his wife, a registered nurse. Their union was added to by four boys and blessed by many friends. Larry worked as an electrical technician, retiring from Honeywell in 1997. Larry's passion for sports fueled his enthusiasm for coaching his four sons in baseball and soccer. His dedication to coaching was also felt throughout the community using his talent to help his teams win multiple tournaments and three state championships in Kansas and Missouri.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Timothy and Bessie Lanigan. He is survived by his wife, Frances Marie Lanigan; his sisters, Sandra Hippler of Bettendorf Iowa and Janet Sodeman of Missouri ; and his brother, Gary Lanigan; his sons: Mark Allen Lanigan, Matthew David Lanigan, Timothy Francis Lanigan and Anthony Patrick Lanigan; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
