Mary Evelyn Salter, age 70, of Abingdon, Illinois died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Care Center of Abingdon in Abingdon, Illinois. She was born on July 31, 1940 in Rathbun, Iowa to Leo and Mary (Burns) Thompson. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Darrell Salter; four brothers, David Thompson, Russell Thompson, Kenneth Thompson, Sr, and Stanley Paul Thompson; and a daughter, Mary Salter.

Mary is survived by her son, Randy Salter of Milan, Missouri; a daughter, Vickie Sheldon of Abingdon, Illinois; two brothers, Dale Thompson and Donald Thompson, both of Niangua, Missouri; two sisters, Mildred Kelley of Unionville, Iowa and Margaret Ruth Krusel of Mystic, Iowa; four grandchildren, Jordan Sheldon, Cory Salter, Steven Salter, and Dustin Salter and two great grandchildren, Dylan Salter and Jordon Salter.

She was a citizen of Ottumwa, Iowa for many years. Interment was at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Locust Grove, Arkansas. Information from Willis Funeral Service in Batesville, Arkansas.
