ELDON — Donald R. "Butch" Stribling, 65, of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Eldon, went home to be with the Lord on June 30, 2009, at his home.He was born May 4, 1944, in Eldon to E.V. "Pete" and Helen Irene Edlund Stribling. A resident of Davenport since 1986, Butch graduated from Grant Union High School in Sacramento, Calif., and then served with the Air Force from 1965 to 1971.He worked for Rock Island Railroad and worked 17 years for SENECA as an environmental technician, retiring in 2007. He married Nancy Wilburn Aug. 3, 1991, in Eldon.Butch enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Surviving are his wife, Nancy; two stepsons, Michael (Theresa) Finney of Moline, Ill., and Edwin Finney of Iowa; a granddaughter, Grace Finney of Moline, Ill.; his mother of Medford, Ore.; three sisters, Nancy Sue Hill and Marjean Loomis King, both of California and Kathi Kathol of Grants Pass, Ore.; two brothers, Steven Stribling of Montana and Scott Stribling of Medford, Ore.He was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Richard "Dick" Stribling and his stepfather, Donald Stribling.His body has been cremated. Graveside services and inurnment will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Eldon Cemetery with Pastor David Albert of Living Hope Bible Church and Pastor Jim Dennis of Hillcrest Church officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials may be made to Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon.The family wishes to thank all those who helped during his illness.Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa in charge of arrangements.
