Mrs. Mary Downing 87, formerly of Ottumwa died Friday evening in Washington D.C.

She was born Feb. 3, 1885 in Wapello County; the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ruffing. She had lived in Ottumwa until 1942. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was married to Thomas Henry Downing. He preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister; Mrs. Ed Ulmer of Ottumwa.She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

The graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Stratman will officiate.
