Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Phillips, 81, a resident of Ottumwa for the last 36 years died at her home; 457 South Willard Thursday at 3:00 p.m. She was born April 22, 1859 at Mason City, W. Virginia.

Surviving are son Henry Phillips of Ottumwa; daughters Mr. Clara Harlan of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Anna Lanigan of Ottumwa; sister Hannah Shea of Ohio, brother William McDermott of Ohio; 14 grandchildren at Ottumwa and two great grandchildren. (Timothy & James Lanigan)

Her husband, son and daughter preceded her in death.Services will be Monday at 8:30 a.m. at Mahoney funeral home and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church where a high mass will be celebrated by Rev. T.C. Donohoe. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Grandchildren will act as pallbearers. Members of St. Patrick's church will meet Sunday night to recite the rosary.
