BATAVIA — Larry L. Peebler, 69 of Batavia, entered into new life on May 21, 2008, at the Hospice House in Ottumwa.He was born on May 21, 1939 in Ottumwa to Glen and Grace Peebler. He married Connie Humsten on Aug. 31, 1990 in Batavia. He was raised and educated in Batavia, graduating from Batavia High School in 1957. He was employed by the Jefferson County secondary road department for 44 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge #198 of Batavia.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Deb Peebler of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Janeen Mottern of Creed Moor, N.C.; his sons, Jeff Peebler of Rapid City, S.D. and David Peebler of Altoona; his stepdaughters, Sue Swaim of California, Tami Swaim of Des Moines and Deb Barnett of Eldon; his stepsons, Daniel Swaim of Altoona, Toby Swaim of Burlington and Rob Kenning of Dothan, Ala.; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; a half brother Phillip Peters of Oxnard, Calif.; and a half sister, Fayelda Peterson of Fairfield; and his beloved dog Pepper.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a half brother, George Peebler.Funeral services will be Friday afternoon 2 o'clock at the Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia with Pastor Jack Jackson officiating. Cremation will follow the services with inurnment in the Batavia Cemetery at a later date.Open visitation will begin at noon on Thursday at the chapel. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. at the Chapel with the family present following services until 8:30.Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Wapello County.
