ELDON~George E. Courtney, 81, of 1475 15th Street, Eldon, died at 4:15 a.m. December 4, 2005, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born November 4, 1924, in Eldon to Ed and Ora Hazel Hockett Courtney. He married Jeannette Mourer March 5, 1949, in Ottumwa. She preceded him in death October 7, 2003.

He farmed in the Eldon area for 56 years and had worked for John Morrell & Co. for thirty years. He was a member of the Peoples Church of Batavia and John Morrell Retirees. He was an avid fisherman.
