OTTUMWA — Gene R. Thomas, 53, Anderson, Ind., passed away November 16, 2007 at Community Hospital, Anderson after a sudden illness. He was born May 16, 1954 in Ottumwa, Iowa, and resided in Anderson since 1985.

Gene had previously worked at Job Source and Ivy Tech Community College.He was a member of the YMCA and volunteered with Camp Hope.

He is survived by his wife whom he married July 3, 1987: Nancy (Rada) Thomas. Two children: Amanda Thomas of Anderson and Brian (Jennifer) Miller of Fishers. Brother: Fred Thomas of Ottumwa, Iowa. Sister: Mary (Roy) Dail of Indianapolis. Brother-in-law: Bruce (Donita) Rada of Anderson. Niece: Christine Dail of Boston, Massachusetts. Two grandchildren: Jakob Miller and Kaitlyn Miller.He was preceded in death by his parents: Leroy and Hazel (Ross) Thomas. Sister-in-law: Peggy Thomas.

Services will be Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 11:30 AM, at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory; South Chapel; 200 W. 53rd Street; Anderson, with Chaplain Rob Mifflin officiating.Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4-8:00 PM on Monday, November 19, 2007 at the funeral home, south chapel.
