OTTUMWA - Donald R. Hansen Sr., 76, of 326 Fairview, died October 9, 2004 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

He was born September 3, 1928 in Ottumwa to Leo and Muriel Venator Hansen. He married Anna Warburton September 5,1948 in Brooklyn, New York.

A resident of Ottumwa all his life, he served in World War II with the Navy. He worked 28 years for John Morrell and Company; he had also worked for Construction Labor Local #566, Wapello County Courthouse and AI Martin Real Estate & Auction Co.

Surviving is his wife; two daughters Donna (Gaylen) Chesnut of Ankeny, Maryanna (Gary) Lanigan of Ottumwa; two sons Donald R. (Charlene) Hansen Jr. and Robert Hansen all of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren, Chance Chesnut, Carlie Fitzgerald, Jessica Lanigan, Lora Doty, Quinn Hansen, Cassandra Hansen and Riley Hansen; a great-grandson Christian Doty; three brothers, Micky Hansen of Ottumwa, Patrick Hansen of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Hugh Hansen of Texas; four sisters, Mary Youngman of Ottumwa, Sharon Doty of Aurora, Missouri, Cecelia Mesecher of Pleasantville and Brigetta Hansen of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Michael, Danny and Ronald Hansen.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Bernie Weir officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.
