MRS. HUSTON, OLD OTTUMWAN, DIES

FUNERAL THURSDAY MORNING FOR MOHTER OF WELL-KNOWN BUSINESS MEN.

Mrs. Bridget Gallagher Huston, 81, for sixty-two years a resident of Ottumwa, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Huston, 118 East Woodland avenue.

She had been there for the last two months during the time of her illness. Her home was at 120 North Holt street.

Mrs. Huston was born in Donegal, Ireland, August 15, 1853. When she was 20 years of age she came to this country. She had lived in Ottumwa for the last sixty-two years, all that time on the west side of the city.

She is survived by three sons, John Huston, publisher of The Courier; Chris J. Huston, investment broker; and Henry Huston, assistant city engineer.

Her husband, Christopher Huston, died thirty-four years ago. Four sons, Matthew, Thomas, Christopher and Manus, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Huston was the last survivor of a family of eight.

She was a member of St. Mary's church since she came to Ottumwa, and was also a member of the Altar and Rosary society of the church.

The body was returned to the home of John Huston, 118 East Woodland avenue, this afternoon and will remain there until the hour of services.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at the John Huston home and at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's, where a requiem high mass will be conducted by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.M. Walsh, V.F., pastor. The junior choir will sing.

Pallbearers will be Clarence S. Johnston, Jerry Shea, J.E. Grotz, Ernest H. Faber, Frank Niemeyer and Joe Brown. Burial will be in the Calvary cemetery.

Miss Mary Catherine Huston, student at the state university in Iowa City, and Bernard Huston, of Madison, Wis., grahdchildren, are returning to Ottumwa. Mrs. Manus Gallagher, sister-in-law of Mrs. Huston, former Ottumwan now of Chicago, also will come for the services.
