John Charles "Ruggles" Doran 77 of 2106 W. Second street died Sunday at 3:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born May 20, 1889 to Patrick and Mary Doran in Ottumwa where he lived most of his life.He was a retired employee of the telephone company and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son Hugh Doran of El Paso, TX, Dorothy Cochran and Maxine Steele both of Ottumwa; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister Margaret Lonergan of Los Angeles.

He was preceded in death by his wife Queen Victoria Doran in 1964; his parents; two brothers; three sisters, and one son.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
