OTTUMWA::DONALD E. "JOE" GRIMES, 51 of 129 N. McLean died at 8:07 pm December 25, 2000 at Ottumwa regional Health Center.

He was born October 04, 1949 to REX and MAXINE PILCHER GRIMES in Ottumwa,Iowa. He married DIANNE JONES on Novemember 20, 1966.

A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he worked at John Morrel & Co, John Deere Works of Ottumwa, Rexnord and was a handy man. He was a social member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, MELISSA HAMILTON and TERESA WRIGHT of Ottumwa,Iowa; a son, DANIEL COLLIER of Ottumwa,Iowa; six grandchildren; two brothers, BOB GRIMES of Clear Water, Florida, and GEORGE GRIMES of North Highland, California; and four sisters, SUSIE DEITCH, BONNI MORROW and CONNIE TOPES of Ottumwa,Iowa and KRIS HOOVER of Muscatine,Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothrs BILL and PHILLIP GRIMES.

Visitation will begin at 9 am Thursday at the Reece Funeral Home with the famiy present from 7-8:30 PM.

Cremation will follow the visitation. Memorials may be made to the family.
