New destroyer famed for local Navy man - 1919

From the "Fairfield Journal", as reported by the "Batavia News", Jan. 2, 1919, Pg. 1, Col. 2

Mrs. L. D. RENO of Agency has been informed by Sec'y Josephus Daniels of the navy, that a new destroyer soon to be launched by the U.S. is to be named the 'RENO' for her son who lost his life in the naval service. Lt. Commander Walter E. RENO was drowned last Nov. while in command of the USS Chauncey.
