John Parks is a pioneer settler of Richland twp, Wapello county, Iowa whose name is now of Kirkville, was born in Clinton County, Ohio in 1832. He was the son of Thomas & Elsie Burley Parks.

Mr. Parks married Lydia Wittenmyer, who was born in Vermillion county, Indiana in 1835. The record of their children are as follows: Mary, deceased, Sarah Ann; who married C. Brown, and now lives in Richland twp.; Jonathan; N.S.; Jane; William and Rose.

Mr. & Mrs. Parks are members of the methodist church at Kirkville. Politically, the former is a Republican. He is widely known in Wapello County, and is deserving of the confidence reposed in him by all.
