MRS. O. J. COOLIDGE
Mrs. Eliza Monroe Coolidge was born August 20, 1856, at London, England, and came to America when two years old.
In Bonaparte, Iowa, March 10, 1874, she and Orlando Judd Coolidge were united in marriage and to them were born five children, four of whom survive, viz., Mrs. Minnie Alice Miller of Chicago, Edmund Glenn of Des Moines, Mrs. Blanche Anne Vass of Valley Junction, and Ivan Donald of Des Moines. Oscar, the oldest child died in infancy.
Mrs. Coolidge passed away Nov. 8, 1913, after an illness of six and a half months, aged 57 years, 2 months, and nineteen days.
Her husband preceded her to the Great Beyond three years ago, Nov. 21, after which she continued to reside at her old home in Bonaparte. When her health failed she went to Des Moines to make her home with her children.
Besides the four children above mentioned she leaves to mourn their loss four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Felix Sappington of Anson, Mo., and Mrs. Jennie Sturdivant of San Diego, California; and two brothers, John Monroe of New Orleans, and Alex. Monroe of Carlton, Minn.
The floral offerings were unusually numerous and beautiful, two exceptionally beautiful pieces being sent by the Register and Leader and Des Moines Capital.
The remains were brought to Bonaparte Monday and a funeral service was held at the M. E. church Monday afternoon with Rev. T. K. Holliday officiating. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
The children and their husbands and wives accompanied the remains to Bonaparte Monday for the funeral service.
John Detwiler of Des Moines, and Mrs. Henry Vass and Mrs. J. D. Nicklin of Eldon, sisters of Frank Vass, also attended the services here.
