He was the last of 12 children. His parents, Bradford Ellis and wife, were among the early pioneers of Van Buren county. On November 12, 1874, he was united in marriage to Angeline Drennen. To this union were born six children: a son Archie and daughter Bessie died in infancy, a daughter Minnie lived to brighten their home eighteen years, dying July 1, 1893. He leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife, two daughters, Mrs. Nora Barker of Talona, Mo., Mrs. Lena Daughrity, of Eloris, Iowa and a son Chas.
