Lewis Davis was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, Nov. 2, 1847, and died at Keosauqua, in the same county, April 16, 1907, being in his sixtieth year. He was married to Miss Ella Davis, who died at Bonaparte exactly four weeks previous to the death of her husband. To them were born six children: -- Charles, Stella, Harvey, Julia, Gooldie, and Travis. He also leaves a brother, Charles Davis of Henry township.

Mr. Davis had been ill many months of cancer of the stomach, but had been confined to his bed only three weeks. A postmortem examination was held at Keosauqua Wednesday, by request of the relatives. Funeral services were held at Center chapel.
