FRANK M. LYON was born at Pierceville, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 9th, 1844, and died March 28th, 1894, aged 49 years, 11 months and 19 days.

He enlisted in Company C., 8th Iowa Cavalry July 29th 1863, as private, and was discharged as 4th sargeant [sic], June 8th, 1865. He was taken prisoner on the Stoneman and McCook raid, and was an inmate of Andersonville prison for over seven months, to which can easily and certainly be traced the great burden of his life and the final cause of his death. He was married to Sarah Dunn Sept. 24th, 1868. To them were born four children, of whom one is dead.
