MRS. SAMUEL FASNACHT
Mrs. Rebecca Fasnacht died Tuesday morning, March 11, 1913, at the home of her son Wm. in Keosauqua, Iowa. In her death passed away the last of the three "old ladies" of Keosauqua, who for at least ten or twelve years past meant Mrs. Nancy Hearn, Mrs. Elizabeth Moore and Mrs. Rebecca Fasnacht, the first two dying within the last year and a half, all three being close to 100 years of age. Mrs. Fasnacht's maiden name was Rebecca Schreckengost. She was born in Lebanon county, Pa., in April 1818, making her age at her death 95. In 1836 she was married to Samuel Fasnacht, at Springfield, Ohio, her husband dying at his home in Keosauqua a number of years ago. During her married life she resided at Mt. Carmel, Ill.; Little Rock, Arkansas; Memphis, Tennesse, and in the spring of 18[?]5 they came to Keosauqua, which ever afterwards was their home. Ten children were born to them, William E., Lewis C., and Frank, being the only ones now alive. Mrs. Fasnacht was a good woman, all of her acquaintances holding her in high esteem. Her health was fairly good for one of her great age up to within a few weeks of her demise. Her death was peaceful; she seemed to go into a quiet, restful slumber and gently breathed her life away with not the semblance of a struggle. The funeral will be held Thursday of this week from the home at 2 p. m., Rev. Cheney in charge. Burial in the Oak Lawn cemetery.

I would be interested in finding out more on the Fasnacht/Fosnot family of Iowa.

NOTE: Husband Samuel died 01 Oct 1894 at his home in Van Buren County, Iowa but I do not have his obituary. Is he buried with his wife? I still am looking for information on this family in April 2003.
