FUNERAL RITES FOR PIONEER RESIDENT CONDUCTED IN DENVER

Funeral services for Carlotta C. (Meek) McCanne
were held June 18 at the South Broadway Christian church in Denver with interment at Fairmount cemetary.

The deceased was born in Bonaparte, Ia., December 3, 1877 and died June 11, 1951 at Clear Haven Home in Denver after a lengthy illness.

A pioneer resident of this area, she moved to Denver with her family in 1888 and attended Denver schools. She graduated from West High School in 1897--her husband-to-be was also a member of the graduating class. She married W. Gerald McCanne March 31, 1901 in Denver. Mr. B.B. Tyler of the South Broadway Christian church performed the ceremony.

To this union were born two sons, W. Gerald McCanne, now of Pittsburgh, Pa, and Rolland W. McCanne of Casper, Wyo. and a daughter Mrs. Arloa L. Bergquist of Austin, Tex. She is also survived by five grandchildren, W. Gerald McCanne III, Marilyn E. McCanne, Karen A. Bergquist and identical twin grandsons Tom and Jim Bergquist.

Mrs. McCanne and her husband moved to Fort Lupton on a farm north of here in 1902 and next to New Mexico for five years before returning in 1910 to a home 11/2 miles south and 1' east of Fort Lupton, where they had since resided.

She had been a member of the South Broadway Christian church since 1900; a past president of the Thursday Afternoon club in 1936, and a past matron of Bountiful Chapter No. 72, O. E. S. in 1928.

The McCannes recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last March 31, 1951, with their son in Casper, Wyo.

Her husband, W. Gerald McCanne, and family wish to express their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to all her lovely friends in and around Fort Lupton for their magnificient floral tributes and cards that were sent to her before and after the funeral.
