Keith L. Muntz, 85, of Farmington, Iowa passed away Saturday evening, March 24, 2012 at the Clark County Nursing Home, Kahoka, Missouri.

Born September 10, 1926 in Farmington, Iowa he was the son of Frank E. and Zoe Etta (Swift) Muntz. On May 28, 1950 he married Dorothy J. Kutcher and they had three children: Kathy, Kent and Curtis.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Farmington, Iowa, one daughter Kathy (Ross) O'Day of Farmington, Iowa, two sons Kent (Lesa) Muntz of Farmington, Iowa, Curt (Sue) Muntz of Muscatine, Iowa, eight grandchildren Kristi (Dave) Bruner of Kirksville, Missouri, Clint (Tami) O'Day of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Kaci (Jesse) Goldstein of Ankeny, Iowa, Kristopher Muntz of Pella, Iowa, Mason Muntz of Farmington, Iowa, Amanda Muntz of Chicago, Illinois, Rebecca Muntz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa , Adam Muntz of Muscatine, Iowa, eight great-grandchildren, three sisters Louise Rider of Farmington, Iowa, Elouise (Rex) Syfert of Keosauqua, Iowa, Elsie Bowers of Oklahoma, two sister-in-laws Esther Weaver and Frances Muntz and mother-in-law Blanche Kutcher of Kahoka, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by three brothers Kenneth, Elwin and Harold and one sister Josephine.

Keith attended White Oak Country School in Flat Rock and graduated from Farmington High School in 1944. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Philippines. Following the Army, Keith had an ice route for the Farmington Artesian Ice Company, he was co-owner of Muntz and Kutcher Grocery Store and owned Muntz Farm Supply.

He was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, past Sunday school teacher and served on various church boards over the years. He was a Farmington volunteer fireman for 18 years and fire chief for 2 years. He served on the Harmony Board of Education for 6 years and was the board president. He was on the Farmington City Council and served as Mayor. He has been a 60 year member of the American Legion, President of the Farmington Community Club, and on the Advisory Board for Boy Scouts. He was on the Board of Supervisors for Van Buren County. As a Van Buren County Supervisor, he was instrumental in planning our county's jail and Lake Sugema.

Keith was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge of Iowa. He was Past Master of Mt. Moriah Lodge #27, A.F. & A. M. He held state Grand Lodge offices of Junior Grand Deacon, Junior Grand Warden, and Grand Master. One of his highest honors was earning his 32nd Degree. Lodge honors include: La Fayette Chapter No. 61, R. A.M., Ottumwa Council No.31, R. & S.M., Malta Commandery No. 31, K.T., Davenport Consistory, A. & A.S.R., the Scottish Rite, Red Cross of Constantine-St.Ignatius Conclave, Honorary Legion of Honor-DeMolay, and on Lodge committees of: Division and Reference, Public Relations, Long Range Planning, Fraternal Dead, Grand Charity Board, Appeals and Grievances, Chairman Visitors, and Chairman Division and References Committee. He was a Masonic District Lecturer.

Keith loved music, sang, and played the banjo. He performed in the Farmington Jamboree for over 34 years. He enjoyed telling of the memories he had growing up in Flat Rock. He was happiest when his family visited and often bragged about them to anyone who would listen.

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27th at the United Methodist Church, Farmington, Iowa. The family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m Tuesday evening, Masonic Rites will be at 7:00 p.m. by the Keosauqua Masonic Lodge #10 A.F. & A.M.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Farmington, Iowa. A private family burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington, Iowa.
