Merrill William Fellows, 31, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Farmington, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at his home.

Born Nov. 25, 1983, in Iowa City, he was the son of Todd A. and Brenda S. Turner Fellows.

Mr. Fellows was a 2002 graduate of Harmony High School.

He served in the United States Army and Army Reserves and was stationed in Iraq for a year, as well as in Germany.

He recently graduated from Texas State University with a degree in geography resource and environmental studies and attained a 4.0 grade-point average. He was working on his master's degree.

He [was] health conscious and enjoyed nature; yoga; traveling; his dog, "Squish;" and music.

Survivors include his mother, Brenda Metcalf of Mount Pleasant; father, Todd Fellows of Bonaparte; two sisters, Peggy S. Fellows of Ennis, Texas, and Kayla M. Davis of Washington; one brother, Jesse Fellows of Burlington; one stepsister, Nicole Andrews of Fort Madison; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation for Mr. Fellows will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at SchmitzLynk Funeral Home in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home, with the Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating.

Burial will be at Greenglade Cemetery, Farmington, with full military rites presented by the Farmington American Legion Post No. 231.
