Mrs. Jacob Eich.

Mrs. Jacob Eich died at her home in Bonaparte, Iowa, Monday, Feb. 17, 1913, aged 78 years and 4 months. She came to Iowa with her parents George and Helen Beck in 1851, her maiden name being Agnes Rose. She was born in East Berlin, Pa., Oct. 17, 1834.

May 31, 1855, she was united in marriage with Jacob Eich in Clark county, Mo., the ceremony being performed by Squire McKee, a famous pioneer justice.

For a number of years Mr. Eich managed deflowering mill owned by Meek Bros. in Bonaparte. In 1872 he engaged in the mercantile business here, and later moved to a farm in Harrisburg township. In 1880 they again returned to Bonaparte which has since been there home.

Mr. and Mrs. Eich are the parents of eight children: – – Mrs. Anna Meek of Hansford, Texas; Philip Eich (deceased); Mrs. Alice Miller of Milton, Iowa; Thomas Eich of Richland, Oregon; Chas. Eich of Keenesburg, Colorado; Mrs. Hattie Young of Boise, Idaho; Miss Catherine Eich of Bonaparte, Iowa: and George Eich of Chicago, Illinois. Those who were able to attend the funeral were Mrs. Miller, Chas. and George, and Miss Catharine.

Besides the children mentioned above there remain to mourn two brothers, John Q. and Philip O. of Bonaparte; and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Whitlock of Farmington.

Funeral services were held at the late home at ten o'clock A. M. of Thursday, Feb. 20, Rev. L. T. Hughes officiating and the remains were placed in the Bonaparte Cemetery

Mr. Eich was also born in East Berlin, Pa., but he is almost 4 years older than the loving wife and helpmate who has lived by his side more than fifty-seven years.

She was a most excellent woman, a good neighbor and friend. She seemed in even better health than her husband, and her demise was quite sudden and unexpected. The many friends of the bereaved family extend their sincere sympathy.
