Mrs. Sarah Foster.

Mrs. Sarah Lichty, daughter of John J. and Mary Lichty, was born April 12, 1832, in Somerset, Pennsylvania. She was the fourth child of a family of nine, five brothers and three sisters, all of whom are now deceased except one brother, Charles, of Kenka, Florida.

She moved with her family to Iowa in 1855, and August 7, 1859, was united in marriage with William L. Foster. Their home was near Sharon where they owned a large farm and lived a prosperous and happy life. Three children were born to this union, Charles L., Anna E. Wiley, and Mary J. Goodin. Mrs. Goodin is now a resident of Kansas; Charles L. died at the age of twenty-eight, and Mrs. Wiley when about thirty. The husband and father had already passed away Jan. 3, 1891.

For ten years of her widowhood, Mrs. Foster lived on the farm, making occasional visits to Pennsylvania, Kansas and elsewhere, but in 1901 she moved to Bonaparte with two of her deceased daughters children, Leard Charles and Lillian Wiley. She bought and improved the home where she has since lived, and where she died at 8:30 PM Monday, May 6, being at the time a little past eighty years of age.

She leaves to mourn their loss her daughter, Mrs. Goodin, her granddaughter, Lillian, who has really been a daughter to her, eight other grandchildren and four great-grandchildren together with many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Foster was a good woman, and a devout Christian. She united with the Sharon Presbyterian Church Jan. 25, 1869, and brought her letter to this church July 17, 1905. She was a faithful worker in the church, and the Ladies Aid, or whatever her hand found to do.

She was an ideal housekeeper and homemaker, a loving friend and a wise counselor, whose good life will long be remembered.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at Bonaparte Thursday afternoon in charge of reverend Jas. Clark with Rev. T. L Smith and Rev. Hughes assisting. The remains were taken to the beautiful Sharon cemetery for burial.
